The Shattered Age

About the Series

A world was sundered to end its suffering. Five hundred years later, a stranger from another world may be the only one who can mend it.

Book One (Prequel Novella): Eterna: The Long Dissonance

The Hook

The world didn't end with a scream. It began with one wrong note, and only one man heard it.

The Synopsis

One hundred years before the Sundering, the scholar Aethon hears something no one else can: the Weave, the lattice of resonance that holds the world together, has started to drift out of tune. He measures it and models it. The model says the world has roughly 380 years left before it comes apart slowly and painfully. The Sanctum Council calls his findings "noise."

Aethon finds allies in Vaelor Sen, the celebrated Resonance Architect of Caerdwyn, and in Aelira Thane, an Archivist willing to risk her career. As the Archive locks doors and forbids further research, the three go underground and study the decline in a forgotten chamber. Nodes fail, the first proto-Seams open, and the sky begins to crack while the Council insists nothing is wrong. Aethon reaches a conclusion that terrifies his friends: if the world cannot be saved, it should be ended cleanly, all at once, with no lingering death.

The novella follows the decades in which his mercy hardens into a design, with a world learning to live under a tearing sky, a young archivist named Denryth Scar who can feel what no one else can, and one final morning in the Resonance Chamber.

What's Inside

A tragic, slow-burn origin story told in a single sweep, from the first wrong note to the Sundering itself
A villain who is neither cruel nor mad, only certain
Chapter epigraphs from in-world scholars that build the history of Eterna as you read
The Five Harmonics (Ignis, Aethon, Glyph, Lumen, Umbra) introduced through the people who wield them
A closing scene that hands the story to the man who will spend five centuries answering it

Perfect for readers who like their fantasy tragic, thoughtful, and rooted in ideas.

Book Two: Ashes of the Sundering

The Hook

He was studying the structure of reality. Then reality opened in his kitchen.

The Synopsis

Travis Nolan is a grieving physics PhD student in Charlottesville, six months past the death of his sister Maya. He is working on a unified field theory he has privately named "the Weave" when a rupture opens above his kitchen counter and pulls him through.

He lands barefoot in Eterna, five hundred years after the Sundering. The sky is scarred by Fracture Seams and the ground is covered in glowing ash. The people who live there use the very thing he theorised, the Weave, and they call its frequencies Harmonics.

Travis begins to develop those Harmonics himself, more of them and faster than anyone in five centuries. He is taken in by Ferwyn, a former Sanctum Warden with a hidden past. He is joined by Kinsmire, a brilliant and chaotic engineer whose Frame (a piloted mech) is held together by improvisation, and by Kaelys (Pronounced Kay-lease), an Archive scholar who has found something dangerous in the restricted records. The Sanctum wants him, the Council is watching, and someone has been quietly weakening the anchor points that hold the sky together.

That someone is Denryth Scar, who survived the Sundering and has spent five hundred years preparing to finish it. His plan is called the Mercy.

From the ash fields of Boranus, through the towers of the Celestine Archive and the volcanoes of Dragonia, to the industrial streets of Caerdwyn and a hidden continent where the sky goes dark, Travis follows a trail toward a confrontation on the last stretch of unbroken stone. It is a debate, and possibly a battle, over whether a broken world can be healed, and whether a stranger has any right to try.

What's Inside

A fish-out-of-water portal-fantasy hook with hard-science reasoning, as a physicist tries to model a magical world
A ragtag found family: the guarded Warden, the wildly inventive engineer, and the precise scholar
A five-Harmonic magic system that works like music, from Ignis (heat) to Umbra (shadow)
Living settings: an ash-choked wilderness, a bridge city humming with resonance, a volcanic Dragonian port, and the smoky workshops of Caerdwyn
An antagonist who is patient, reasonable, and almost persuasive, and a finale won with an argument, not a blade
A quiet emotional core about grief, carrying the people we've lost, and finding a reason to keep noticing the world

For fans of thoughtful, character-driven fantasy and portal fiction with a scientific mind at its center.

Combined Series Blurb

The Shattered Age

Five hundred years ago, one man decided the world was dying and tried to end it kindly. He failed, and the world has been breaking ever since.

In The Long Dissonance, watch a hidden crisis grow from a single wrong note into a catastrophe. In Ashes of the Sundering, a grieving physicist falls through the sky into the wreckage and discovers he was expected.

Two books. One question: when the world is broken, do you end it, or do you mend it?
